On August 1, 2008, according to the order of the rector No. 1041 of June 30, 2008, a new subdivision appeared at Tula State University - the Internet Institute.
Being a part of the GOU VPO "Tula State University", the main activity of the Internet Institute is teaching students in programs of higher professional education, which is confirmed by the License to conduct educational activities and the Certificate of State Accreditation, Russian legislation, the Charter of Tula State University, as well as other regulatory documents.
The main goal of the Internet Institute is to form and maintain the use of innovative methods in education, since society and the state are in need of qualified specialists, whose professional training implies obtaining a high-quality comprehensive higher education. The Internet Institute and the distance education it offers open up additional opportunities for professional and cultural development.
The most important tasks of the Internet Institute:
• develop and implement innovative teaching methods in the educational process;
• create and develop electronic libraries, providing university students with access to software, information systems and an array of other educational materials;
• to promote the development of the educational information environment of the University;
• organize and conduct scientific research and consultations in the field of education using distance learning technologies;
• create and develop an electronic database of software and methodological manuals.
Tula state University (TulSU) is a higher education institution located in the city of Tula. In April 2017, it became one of the regional reference universities. Today the University has 9900 students and 434 graduate students, 18 postdoctoral students, 97 residents and 92 interns [source not specified 195 days]. Foreign students include more than 700 citizens from 50 countries. Rector of TulSU is a Professor, doctor of technical Sciences Mikhail Vasiliyevich Gryazev since May 2000.
The University trains graduates in 150 areas of fields and specialties of defense technical, technological, mining, computer-information, natural science, economic, legal, social, humanitarian and medical profiles. Training is conducted by more than 1,200 teachers, including 237 doctors of Sciences, professors and 717 candidates of Sciences, associate professors.
Training in TulSU is conducted on full-time (day), part-time (evening) and correspondence (including short-term programs and the external) forms of education.
The University trains engineers of various fields, mathematicians, mechanics, chemists, psychologists, political scientists, historians, archivists, theologians, linguists, translators, lawyers, sociologists, doctors, specialists in physical education and sports, designers, economists, managers, architects, teachers, including high school, highly qualified specialists-candidates and doctors of Sciences.
For its work in the field of training, retraining and advanced training,
scientific achievements and successes in the field of social activities, TulSU
was awarded with diplomas of all-Russian and international competitions and
exhibitions. In 2005, the University was awarded with the Gratitude of the
President of Russia for its contribution to the training of qualified
specialists and the development of science.
In 2007, representatives of TulSU became as a laureates of the government of the Russian Federation in the field of education. The creative team of the University staff headed by the Rector, doctor of technical Sciences, Mikhail Gryazev was awarded for the work "Regional University educational and pedagogical complex of innovative educational technologies for training specialists for high-tech industries of the military-industrial complex" for educational institutions of higher professional education.
In 2008, during the visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in "Instrument Design Bureau", the rector of Tula State University M. Gryazev and Vice-rector on scientific work V. Kohar were awarded the RF Government prize in science and technology.
One of the priority activities of the TulSU is the social sphere: the institution has the largest regional network of hostels, sports bodies, operate clinic, the only Russian University kindergarten, a sanatorium, a dining room, a rustic recreation. Assistance to students and graduates in orientation in the labor market is provided by the employment promotion center. Public organizations, student and sports clubs of the University, the University Museum, museums of weapons, tools, geological museum are working actively, University newspaper is published as well. In recent years, the student club consisted of 19 creative teams, clubs, courses, in which more than 600 students were engaged on a permanent basis. The student club has two auditoriums for 804 and 200 seats, rehearsal rooms with an area of more than 500 square meters.
The University in academic and scientific fields is associated with organizations of more than 20 countries, including universities in the USA, UK, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, China and Poland.
