At the initiative of the Presidium of the Omsk Department of Humanitarian Sciences and with the support of the Omsk region Administration on October 30, 1997, Omsk humanitarian University (since 2008 – Academy) was opened. The academician of the humanitarian academy, doctor of Philology, Professor Alexander Emmanuilovich Eremeev became as a rector of the institute.
In 1995 the first license to conduct educational activities in the field of higher professional education was issued by the Ministry of education of the Russian Federation. In 2003 the higher educational institution received state accreditation.
Initially, recruitment was conducted for 6 specialties:
Ten years later the University has seen many positive changes.
According to the results of the state accreditation in 2008, a new state status was
assigned – Academy.
For the 2009-2010 academic year, the University announces admission to 15 specialties and 7 bachelor's degree programs.
Currently, The Omsk humanitarian Academy is a multi-disciplinary complex that includes an information and computer center, a scientific library, a publishing house, a center for employment, a faculty of vocational education, and a postgraduate studies.
In recent years, significant steps have been taken in the development of vocational professional education. Today it is a complete system of training, retraining and advanced training of managers and specialists of regional and municipal government bodies, organizations and enterprises of the Omsk region; managerial personnel; financial specialists; senior management of enterprises and organizations.The Academy is constantly seeking new ways for organizing the educational process, ensuring the transition from the "education for life" principle to the principle of " education throughout all life."
